Fosway Group is currently releasing its research into the HR Realities in Europe 2016-17, created in association with HRN. The 3-part series follows the changing landscape of HR in Europe along with the situations affecting the global market and rising changes and innovations in technology. Fosway will be at HR Tech World next week to discuss more of their research along with conducting a new research project focused on the implications of Brexit on HR.


HRN has partnered with Fosway for the 4th year to understand these changes in this time of immense disruption. Its analysisprovides the nuances needed to capture the unique situations that Europe’s HR industry is in. The research provided in the report gives a critical assessment of what European HR professionals understand about the state of HR on the continent.


It the real need for this European data that has pushed HRN and Fosway to investigate these trends. HR departments across Europe are often slighted in the research area since most analysts focus on the U.S. market, thus there is a void in the understanding of European HR priorities and needs.


The research that informs this report comes from 500 HR leaders and data collected in the second half of 2016. Over 60% of respondents of the survey come from organizations with over 5000 employees.


Most respondents work or live in Europe with headquarters based in Europe (89% with a headquarters in Europe and 94% personally based in Europe).


Overall, it seems HR needs to change, and the next generation of HR technology is a great enabler for this change.


The report’s first part shows the need for business agility in HR along with another year of business performance and profitability as the number 1 challenge facing HR in Europe. It also reveals the top measures of success for HR strategy, with employee engagement continuing to dominate.

Part 2 highlights the how technology is transforming HR. The research deep dives into the key drivers for change, the importance of the user experience (critical for 80% of respondents), the unstoppable rise of Cloud technology and the increasing focus on analytics despite 90% of organisations reporting issues with the quality of the HR data.


Part 3 then focuses on the realities of the customer experience with HR technology. This will explore how well suppliers understand customer needs, how often they deliver great service. Despite its potential to enable change in organisations, our research shows that only 1 in 4 HR systems actually have a positive impact on business….Time for some tough questions for both buyers and suppliers!
